Alexander Technique & Mat Pilates

ABOUT THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE & MAT PILATES
What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a method of movement re-education that helps you improve posture, reduce tension, and move more efficiently. By becoming aware of habitual movement patterns and learning to change them, this technique can help alleviate pain and discomfort caused by poor posture, stress, or repetitive strain.
What is Mat Pilates?
Mat Pilates is a low-impact, core-focused exercise method that improves strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Using controlled movements and breathwork, Pilates enhances posture, stability, and overall mobility. This practice targets deep core muscles, helping to reduce back pain, prevent injuries, and improve balance. It is suitable for all fitness levels!
MODALITIES
Our Approach
Alexander Technique lessons and Mat Pilates sessions are done wearing comfortable clothes that allow freedom of movement. Work may be done in a variety of positions, including lying on a massage table, sitting in a chair, standing and walking. You will be guided gently through various movements, helping to align your posture and become aware of your habits.
Pilates sessions will take place using a mat on the floor. You may be provided specific exercises to work on at the clinic and at home. Strengthening your core muscles is fundamental to achieving a healthy posture and reduction in muscle strain and imbalances.
